Mattia Casalegno

(EN) Mattia Casalegno (IT/US) is a new media artist whose works are driven by a constant research on the relations and connections linking the fiels of information (in-forms, to give form), biology (bio-logos, discourse on living) and ecology (in the batesonian term), pointing on the centrality of code as a tool and metaphor of his poetic.

Co-founder of the project Kinotek, a seminal VJing and new media group collective based in Rome, Mattia has taken part in many international festivals. Upon moving to Brussels, he got involved in several productions for Villa Eugenie and Cimatics (BE). He is currently attending the Design | Media Arts graduate program at the University of California, Los Angeles.

(FR) Mattia Casalegno est un artiste numérique dont les travaux sont conduits par une recherche constante sur les relations et liaisons entre l'information, la biologie et l'écologie, pointant sur la centralité du code en tant qu’outil et métaphore de sa poétique.

Co-fondateur du projet Kinotek, un groupe collectif de VJing et nouveaux médias basé à Rome, Mattia a pris part à de nombreux festivals internationaux. For Nuit Blanche, MFF 2010 offers a breathtaking view on digital artworks presented in the Brussels public space and all over Europe.  During one night, the buildings along the canal will be pulsating to the rhythm of the city, while signs and advertising displays will be transformed into virtual artworks. An unusual walk in the heart of the digital city!

For the Media Facades Festival, Mattia Casalegno (IT/US) presents an interactive installation connecting participants by means of EEG headsets. Linked through a relational device, their intimate confrontation is remediated in real time in a mirror projection. Initially conceived for a media facade, the first demo version of this installation will be shown indoor.

Media Facades Festival Europe 2010 (MFF 2010) is an urban media art project that interconnects seven European cities through urban screens and media facades located in public spaces. Artists and media designers will show throughout Europe specially developed art projects, during screenings and Joint Broadcasting Events, opening a global window to create dialogue, share dreams and exchange ideas.
