As We Were Moving Ahead Occasionally We Saw Brief Glimpses of Beauty
10 Octobre - 12 Octobre 2016
Residency by Gaëtan Rusquet
After developing several solos and the group project 'Meanwhile', with varying configurations for three performers and a sound artist, Gaëtan Rusquet recently started the research for a new group project: 'As We Were Moving Ahead Occasionally We Saw Brief Glimpses of Beauty'.
This project is about body and video as a tool to stage yourself. This relation will be developed within a repetitive and alienating technical device for the performers, both individualy and collectively. The spectators and the performers will evolve on an open stage so as to create an immersive device, who will get accross this experience in an common space.
The performance will be developed in collaboration with Amélie Marneffe and Claire Vivianne Sobottke as performers, Yann Leguay and Damien Petitot as sound and video artist and Lucille Calmel as outside eye.
Gaëtan Rusquet (°1984) lives and works in Brussels. He is currently working as a director, performer and scenographer in the field of performance, dance and visual art. After studying Applied Arts in Paris at L’ENSAAMA, he obtained a Masters degree in stage design and performance at l’ENSAV La Cambre. In his artistic proposals, Rusquet focuses on the relation between ‘action’ and medium, while sharing a visual as well as a performative experience with the audience. His work has been presented at various European festivals and venues such as Impulstanz (AT), Trouble Festival (BE), Accionmad (ES), MDT (SE), AvantGarden (NO), Accionmad (ES), FRAC Lorraine (FR), Homo Novus (LT), Palais de Tokyo (FR) and Performatik Kaaitheater (BE).
