Daniel Daniel is a visual artist who creates for near 20 years mobile scultpures made of electric motors, smart and low-tech mechanics. His works have been shown in many exhibitions such as: Aux Joyeux Sapinos (1985), Entre Deux Pages (1989), Enfer et Paradis (1996), De la belle charcuterie (1999), Mécaniques & Cie (2001).
In 2001,his research on cinematic sculptures lead him to produce his first movie "Home Travel", precursor of "Klaus Kermesse" (2007)by its DIY aesthetics and freedom of narration. Daniel Daniel's simple and direct visual style leads the spectators into a delirious imaginative world just by using home-made low-tech processes, both digital and electro-mechanical, far away from today special effects used in main stream cinema production. Using digitally edited photos which are then printed and cut to produce characters to be mechanically animated in real-time in front of the camera, Daniel Daniel does a physical 'compositing' with visual qualities highly different from the standard renderings of video editing softwares.
