Urban Smart Station

Urban Smart Station is a participatory design project initiated by iMAL and CyCLO. It consists in the elaboration of a new kind of urban furniture prototype, integrating functions linked to bike mobility, digital mobility, information point and social meeting place. The inhabitants are involved during the entire process. The energy design will try to be as autonomous than possible by integrating renewable energies' systems (e.g. wind and solar energies). The production will use innovative, accessible (DIY), local and responsable (digital manifucture, recycling) manufacturing's methods.

Urban Smart Station could for example enable people to recharge batteries (from cellphones, laptops, lamps), store and shelter bicycles and make small repairs on them, wireless access point, local (digital) information spreading point, mailbox (analogue and digital), small friendly shelter to meet and chat...

People from Brussels, come and share your ideas during this first public meeting at iMAL!
