moddr_ invites the NYC-based circuit sorcerers Loud Objects for a lo-fi, diy, noisy evening at iMAL.

Programme: 

Noise Toy mini-workshop 

19:00 - 20:30

Learn how to assemble and solder your own 1-bit sound-generating circuit with Tristan and Kunal from Loud Objects. Plug in your headphones and glitch out, or jack into an amp and play it as an instrument!
Maximum 15 participants, registration recommended.

Loud Objects concert 

21:00 - 22:00

Wielding soldering irons over a ramshackle overhead projector, Tristan Perich, Kunal Gupta and Katie Shima wire up live musical circuits. Punctuated silence occupies the first few minutes of their set while the initial circuit is wired up. The resulting explosive sound is dense and grows as more microchips are added. Their maneuverings are projected from the smokiness, hulking beyond the performers, gargantuan spectres stripped from the pillars of antiquated technology to their lurid and noble spirit.

About Loud Objects

Graduates of Columbia University, Kunal Gupta, Tristan Perich and Katie Shima have been performing as Loud Objects since 2005. Their performances are focused on sound from programmed microchips. They also host workshop on building and programming sound-generating circuits, or explore teaching as performance, explaining their motions as they solder their circuit live. The trio also make participative audio installations where the audience is encouraged to rewire the existing circuit.
