“Virtual Herbarium” ~ 2005
Virtual Herbarium consists of fifteen, autonomous virtual seeds which grow up, blossom and die according to their “morphogenetic code”. The plasma screen becomes the scenario for a living process, or, better still, a new place for a living form to place its roots and develop in an eternal cycle of growth and destruction.

During his long career, Chevalier showed his work in numerous solo and group exhibitions throughout the world. Major exhibitions and presentations of his work have included Musée d’Art Moderne, Paris 1988; Pompidou Centre, Paris 1994; Stuttgart Staatsgalerie, 1997; Kwangju Biennale, Korea 2000. In 2000 Flammarion published a monograph with texts by Pierre Restany, Laurence Bertrand Dorléac and Patrick Imbard. His monumental Inhabiting Networks (2000) is on permanent display in the lobby of the Palais des Congrès at the Porte Maillot, Paris.
