Eva and Franco Mattes’ artworks have been shown internationally including: Collection Lambert, Avignon; Fondazione Pitti Discovery, Florence; Lentos Museum of Modern Art, Linz; New Museum of Contemporary Art, New York; ICC, Tokyo; and Manifesta4, Frankfurt. They received the Jerome Commission from the Walker Art Center, and are among the youngest artists to have ever participated in the Venice Biennale. Mattes’ works are part of several private and public collections such as the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis; MEIAC, Spain; MAK, Vienna.

For their participation at the Venice Biennale, they used the occasion to spread a virus called Biennale.py (2001). Perpetual Self Dis/Infecting Machine is a re-assembled computer infected with Biennale.py, intent on an eternal process of infection and disinfection.

The three works in the Nikeground cycle represent various aspects of the project: the desire to hijack a commercial brand name and re-use it in a creative way; dialogue with the public as a distinctive feature of many works based on net practices; the continual interrelation between urban space and information space.
