In the series of artworks dedicated to the Empire State Building, his favourite subject from 2004 onwards: a reflection on economic and political power, on their symbols and destiny in the information age. Substituted by strings of code, the steel and cement of the industrial era become fluid, malleable: the phallic shape of the skyscraper becomes soft, apparently delicate, though actually indestructible, always able to regain its original form. But KingKong, Cyclops Birth, Smoke and Spire with Shadow are also studies on the feeling of time, in an epoch when even skyscrapers melt like snow in the sun.Napier has participated in the Whitney Biennale (2002) and showed his work in many solo and collective exhibitions. His artworks are in collections in museums such as the Guggenheim Museum (New York) and the Centre Pompidou (Paris).
