I AM LOOKING AT A ROOM

TRIPOT & Laurent Trezegnies

"I AM LOOKING AT A ROOM" is het resultaat van een samenwerking tussen het audiovisuele collectief TRIPOT (Marius Packbier en Aïlien Reyns) en plastische kunstenaar Laurent Trezegnies.

Aan de basis van dit werk ligt een video dat van zijn representatieve functie wordt ontdaan door de reorganisatie van zijn pixelstructuur. Het structurele patroon van de pixels verandert in een massa van onderdelen die niet in staat zijn een leesbare betekenis te communiceren of iets buiten zichzelf te representeren. De talloze duidelijk onderscheidbare pixels vormen een abstract en tegelijkertijd expressief beeld resulterend in een rijke fysieke ervaring voor de toeschouwer.

De abstracte compositie wordt door een voice-over gekoppeld aan de werkelijkheid. Op basis van de meerduidige weergave moet de toeschouwer een eigen subjectieve betekenis construeren.

Laurent Trezegnies creëert een plastische installatie in wisselwerking met de tentoonstellingsruimte en de videobeelden. Het is een materialisering van het concept, concreter en vergankelijker dan zijn audiovisuele vorm.

About TRIPOT

TRIPOT is a Brussels based audiovisual art collective founded by Aïlien Reyns, Marius Packbier and Martina Melilli that explores the intersections between art, academic research and social practice.

Marius Packbier (°1982, DE) is active in the fields of installation and media art. He explores through video, matters relating to perception, represantation and the relationship between artist, medium and audience. 

Aïlien Reyns (°1984, BE) is an audiovisual artist who researches the interrelationship between  migration, home/intimate space and (digital) communication media.

About Laurent Trezegnies 

Laurent Trezegnies (°1988, BE) lives and works in Brussels. He graduated from MA in Fine Arts in 2012, at the Académie des Beaux-Arts de Liège. He is currently working on different artistic projects in relation to the public space.
