Félix Luque Sánchez

Félix Luque Sánchez (Oviedo, 1976°) works in the field of new media art. He has exhibited his works in art institutions such as Transmediale (Berlin), Ars Electronica (Linz), iMAL (Brussels), LABoral (Gijón), BÒLIT Centre d'Art Contemporani. (Girona). Le Cube (Paris). CCCB (Barcelona).

He has been nominated for major international new media awards like transmediale 2010 (Berlin-Germany). The Multimedia Award from the Liedts-Meesen Fondation  (Gent-Belgium). Ars Electronica 2010 (Linz-Austria), for which he received an Honorary Mention.

He has received a number of scholarships, including a Phonos grant for audiovisual and musical production for young artists (2002-2004), the Digital Art scholarship of the Belgian’s French Community of Belgium (2008-2009), the “oficina de proyectos” grant from LABoral (2008) and a production grant from VIDA 13.0 “Fundación Telefónica”  (2010).

From 2001 to 2007, he was a faculty member at IUA, the Audiovisual Institute at the Pompeu Fabra University (UPF) in Barcelona, carrying out didactic and technical functions at the university's Digital Arts Master and Postgraduate Programme of Musical Composition with New Technologies.

He is also engaged with sound design and the development of customized technologies, electronics and software, for Kris Verdonck’s Theater company: A Two Dogs Company.

He currently lives in Brussels.

Different Ways to Infinity is an installation that gathers experiments in geometry and physics, as fictional strategies to generate infinity. During his residency, Felix will develop the third and last part of the work, the Clones as two Inverted Pendulums.

During Open House, iMAL invites 3 artists and designers to present its FabLab (digital fabrication laboratory) and their work in this context; with Corneel Cannaerts, Julien Maire, Félix Luque and Damien Gernay. In parallel, visitors can discover the Gobo Gobo Hey! exhibition by Cécile Babiole.

In the context of Transmediale festival in Berlin, Wallonia Brussels International organises an exhibition showing pieces by 3 Brussels-based artists: Felix Luque, Julien Maire and LAb[au].

iMAL is very happy to be associated with this event as the co-producers of Julien's new work Composite as well as Felix's installations D.W.I. and Memory Lane.
